A New Way To Manage Bullying

Introducing bullycheck.co.nz

A Systemic Way To Report and Prevent Bullying

How does it work?

Bullycheck has partnered with BRIM* Anti Bullying Software a company based in the United States to bring their advanced anti bullying software APP to New Zealand and Australia.

BRIM is a FREE* mobile phone app

The app enables anyone to anonymously report bullying.

The app records where, when and the type of bullying occurring

Once a report is submitted on the app it automatically sends an anonymous Incident Report to the appropriate school with all the information.

Every month a summary of the Incident Reports are available on a Dashboard so the School SLT and Boards of Trustees can view and track what is happening.

WHY SHOULD WE USE BRIM?

The hardest thing for victims of bullying to do is report it.

No child wants to be labeled a “tattle tale or snitch”, and so most victims of bullying stay silent. When they finally come forward to get help, the physical or psychological damage is already done.

Victims need to report bullying sooner, and so this is why it’s critical that reporting bullying be made as simple and confidential as possible and that both victims and bullies receive consistent, timely help.

BRIM is designed to do exactly those things: enable students to confidentially report bullying online and help schools keep track of incidents once reported.

WHO IS  BULLYCHECK FOR?

BOARDS OF TRUSTEES (BOT)

Helps BOT’s by providing a consistent set of processes for the reporting of bullying at your schools.
Our Dashboard gives BOT’s a monthly reporting framework to track trends
The Dashboard allows BOT’s to track the type of bullying incidents and where they are happening at your school
This enables BOT’s to hone in on problem areas and refine strategies to lessen bullying.
Gives BOT’s the information to give Key Performance Indicators to Principals. This strengthens the governance role of BOT’s.

FOR PRINCIPALS AND SCHOOL STAFF

BRIM’s reporting framework gets all the bullying information in an easy to understand incident report and then collates these into a Dashboard this saves time, lessens manual work and eliminates the myriad of notes and emails documenting bullying incidents
The BRIM phone APP allows bystanders to report bullying allowing everyone to take action when they come across bullying.
The mere fact that your school operates the BRIM system can reduce incidents by having a deterrent effect.
Accountability and transparency are embedded which in turn can only enhance your school’s reputation whilst promoting a safe and positive school climate

FOR STUDENTS PARENTS AND GUARDIANS

The BRIM APP is deliberately designed so that reporting is anonymous

This allows students and others to report bullying without worrying about their own safety or being seen as a “snitch”

There is a provision in the APP for a submitter to give their contact details if they wish but this is not compulsory

The BRIM APP can provide screenshots of cyber bullying and can even capture photographs taken of bullying incidents

As the BRIM APP is “Online” reporting can take place 24/7 and reports can be made at a different location
after an incident has occurred thus protecting the victim from any retaliation.

How Do We Get Bullycheck?

Click here to go to our contact page and we will make a time to take you through the sign on process and provide the training needed to help you make the maximum use of Bullycheck.

Once your school is signed up students, staff and others can be given the details
to download the APP (free of charge) onto their phones

It is recommended that your school makes it compulsory for all students and staff to have the APP
that way students can’t be singled out as being “snitches”

Once the APP is used to submit an Incident Report that report is automatically emailed
to the appropriate contact person at the school

The information on these incident reports is then automatically collated into a monthly dashboard
which can be seen and downloaded

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

HOW MUCH DOES BULLYCHECK COST?

Annual school licenses are available and include unlimited staff, incidents, technical support and training. That being said, our main goal with BRIM is to help students that are being bullied. For more information on pricing, please visit our Pricing page.

HOW DO YOU ENSURE REPORTING IS ANONYMOUS?

We do not ask for ANY personal information when downloading our App. There is the option for a user to give their contact details however it is only an option any personal  information is only sent to the school’s nominated contact person.

WHAT ABOUT FALSE REPORTS?

A percentage of false reporting can be expected, in our experience less than 5%. We use a CAPTCHA system to be sure that no spam bots and the like are able to submit reports.

HOW WILL BULLYCHECK SAVE MONEY?

Reporting and tracking incidents takes a fraction of the time it does with paper reports and at very little cost. Graphs showing bullying trends, top locations for incidents, breakdown of bullies and more are instantly available whereas these could easily take hours to generate in spreadsheets – more if the incidents are stored in separate word documents or, worse, paper forms.

HOW DOES BULLYCHECK IMPROVE GOVERNANCE?

Bullycheck provides a reporting framework forming a “paper trail” which provides schools with the necessary information to ensure compliance with Ministry, OSH and ERO requirements.

* The Bullycheck/Brim APP is free to download on either iOS or Android however the reporting functions are only enabled after the annual licence charge is paid
